DR. ELANA JABLON, PH.D.

Dr. Elana Jablon earned her B.A. in Psychology and International Studies at Northwestern University (Go ‘Cats!) and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Virginia’s Combined Clinical and School Psychology Program. While at UVA, she saw clients of all ages for therapeutic services and complex psychodiagnostic assessment, as well as conducted neuropsychological assessment for children at UVA Hospital. She spent her internship year at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center in the Departments of Psychiatry and Developmental Pediatrics. At Kaiser, she provided individual, couple, and group therapy for patients across the lifespan and continued growing her assessment specialty in both neurodevelopmental disorders, specifically Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder, and Specific Learning Disabilities.

Dr. Jablon’s work has been driven by the belief that psychological services should empower clients, whether through psychotherapy, assessment, treatment planning, or consultation. As a result, she takes a culturally responsive, person-specific approach to case conceptualization and client care, tailoring intervention plans and assessment batteries as necessary to be adaptive to the many factors influencing a client’s mental health. To effectively do this, her clinical work is integrative in nature; she prioritizes collaborating with client’s healthcare team and/or additional stakeholders, such as parents, partners, and other loved ones, to ensure she has the relevant information to conceptualize each client’s unique experience.

Dr. Jablon strives to provide clients with the tools necessary to be successful in their environments by collaborating with clients to identify areas where they would most benefit from growing their skills. She utilizes a variety of tools, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) for couples, and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). She also teaches relevant behavioral techniques to parents and utilizes psychodynamic techniques focused on increasing clients’ self-awareness and recognizing their behavioral patterns. Dr. Jablon specializes in mood disorders, personality disorders, specific phobias, romantic relational problems, parent-child relational problems, and neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder, and Specific Learning Disabilities). She frequently solicits feedback and monitors clients’ progress in order to adapt the care that she is providing. Her clients appreciate her warmth, empathy, and humor as they grow in their journey to improving their mental health and well-being.
