DR. COURTNEY MALIAKKAL, PSY.D.

Courtney Maliakkal, PsyD, is a clinical psychologist who brings warmth, empathy, and a deeply human approach to her work. Originally from Toronto, Ontario, Courtney has always had a passion for connecting with others. Friends and loved ones have long gravitated toward her for her non-judgmental presence, supportive nature, and ability to hold space for the full range of human emotions—qualities that naturally led her to the field of psychology.

Courtney earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University in Southern Florida, where she first gained experience supporting adults in substance use recovery and participating in community psychoeducation through a non-profit focused on eating disorders. Following graduation, she joined a start-up private practice, where she discovered a love for writing mental health blogs and building community connections—a creative outlet that continues to inform her professional identity.

She went on to complete her Master of Arts and Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology at Azusa Pacific University in Southern California. During graduate training, Courtney deepened her understanding of the therapeutic process and found particular resonance with humanistic and exploratory approaches—emphasizing clients as active participants in their growth and healing.

Her clinical experience spans a variety of settings and roles. Courtney has worked with high school students in public school districts, served on a comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) team, participated in psychological research and assessment, and continued her writing and outreach efforts in the mental health field. These diverse experiences have equipped her to support clients navigating a wide range of concerns, including interpersonal relationships, anxiety, depression, trauma, personality disorders, neurodivergence, and crisis-related issues.
